Vintage week 3 – Pastor Kevin Kringel

Listen to the audio version of the message.

“Our serving is not just meeting a need, but building the church… and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it!”

Mark 10:42-45 (NLT)
42 So Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. 43 But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else. 45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

John 13:1-17

Elisha served Elijah

2 Kings 3:11
But Jehoshaphat said, “Is there no prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord by him?”
So one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said, “Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.”

Luke 16:10
“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.”

Colossians 3:23 (NLT)
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Entertainment vs. Hospitality

Churches must practice hospitality:

John 15:13
There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Romans 12:13
13 When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality

“Entertainment seeks to impress people. Hospitality seeks to serve people.”
