Joshua 14:10-14 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

10 Now behold, the Lord has let me live, just as He spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that the Lord spoke this word to Moses, when Israel walked in the wilderness; and now behold, I am eighty-five years old today. 11 I am still as strong today as I was in the day Moses sent me; as my strength was then, so my strength is now, for war and for going out and coming in. 12 Now then, give me this hill country about which the Lord spoke on that day, for you heard on that day that Anakim were there, with great fortified cities; perhaps the Lord will be with me, and I will [a]drive them out as the Lord has spoken.”

13 So Joshua blessed him and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance. 14 Therefore, Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite until this day, because he followed the Lord God of Israel fully.

Psalms 37:23 (AMP)

The steps of a [good and righteous] man are directed and established by the LORD, And He delights in his way [and blesses his path].

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NASB)

Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but [a]divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,

Today’s Question: “Does the Equipment in your backpack match the Mission to Climb the Mountain in front of you?”

Tools:

  • Oil:
  • Anointing, the Spirit’s ability on your life (gifts, talents, supernatural touch)

Acts 10:38 You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

  • Lantern:
  • There will always be times when we need to climb in the dark or shadowy places

Psalms 119:105 Your Word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

  • Oxygen Mask
  • (depending on how high you want to climb)

Dead Zone: 26,000 feet… As the movie trailer to the movie Everest puts it:

Human beings simply aren’t built to function at the cruising altitude of a 747.

Proverbs 17:22 A joyful heart is good medicine, But a broken spirit dries up the bones.

Exodus 34:21 “You shall work six days, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during plowing time and harvest you shall rest.

  • Anchors:
  • When you stumble or fall back (down)

Natural anchors: Your Salvation, The Heavenly Vision, Received the Holy Spirit

Anchors we place: Apologetics, Our Testimonies, Accountability (speak into my life)

  • Skull:
  • Pain, difficult times, failures (People suggest leaving your baggage behind often referring to your hurts, pain, and disappointment. Truthfully there is no way to separate you from your history…it comes with you, so let it become a tool rather than an excuse…All of our backpacks have issues and pain in them…what will you do with it…It’s either dead weight holding you back or precious lessons learned and fuel to inspire you to go higher.

I can let my pain become my excuse to fail or my reason to succeed.

James 1:2-4 (NLT) Dear brothers, is your life full of difficulties and temptations? Then be happy, 3 for when the way is rough, your patience has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, and don’t try to squirm out of your problems. For when your patience is finally in full bloom, then you will be ready for anything, strong in character, full and complete.

Romans 8:28 (NASB) 28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (He didn’t cause the pain but He can cause it to work for your good/benefit)

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 New Living Translation (NLT)

9 Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 10 If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. 11 Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? 12 A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

Joshua 1:1-11 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
    God’s Charge to Joshua

1 Now it came about after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ [a]servant, saying, 2 “Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel. 3 Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon, even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun will be your territory. 5 No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. 6 Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous; [b]be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may [c]have success wherever you go. 8 This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may [d]be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will [e]have success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
    Joshua Assumes Command

10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, 11 “Pass through the midst of the camp and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare provisions for yourselves, for within three days you are to cross this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which the Lord your God is giving you, to possess it.’”

    What is Structure?

    1. Structure is pre-choice choices: determining your response before you are faced with the decision Vs. 8- I will do what is written in the book (despite what I feel, what obstacles I face, what resistance comes my way. I determine to keep climbing.)

    2. Structure is the habits we form

Pre – Choice choices and structure can also be called Habits… habits are things we do everyday that determine our eventual outcomes. Our habits either support or sabotage our efforts to climb.
