Philip Smethurst made his first mission journey in 1989, aged 21. After serving two years in the South African military, he traveled independently for six years throughout more than 40 countries. He and his wife, Sharon, founded Overland Missions in 1999, out of their shared love for the nations. It has since become a global organization, focused on reaching the world’s most remote people. Through pioneering use of technology, Overland Missions seeks to reach these neglected people with the message of Christ.
